The Dark Knight Returns!

This one was done for a weekly art challenge on FaceBook. The theme being "Batman- The Dark Knight Returns." PITT pens and Corel Painter9, the first drawing completed on my shiny new Wacom Intuos5 tablet. Quite happy with it, barring his left hand and the clothe....so annoying when these things pass you by and you only spot the awkwardness at the finish. :P

Couple of new digital paintings. Been having a muck around with Corel Painter these last few weeks. Had it for a couple of years, but only ever used it as a digital "colouring book", for finishing off traditionally drawn black ink pics, scanned in.

Zombo loves you.

Zombo is one of 2000ads best characters of recent years. Drawn by the amazing Henry Flint and wriiten by top pen pusher Al Ewing. Did this as a fanpic, drawn from start to finish on the PC using Coral Painter 9, which is a great program. Comments welcome, as per usual. :)

Oz Comics Weekly Facebook challenge.

Seem to have a little spare time lately, so have been drawing more. The painting above was done for one of the Oz Comics weekly challenges, on Facebook: BACK TO THE FUTURE! Like my previous Dredd/ Howler pic, this was traditionaly painted in Gouache. The pic below is for this weeks theme : THE CROW! Painted digitally, in Corel Painter . To my shame, I had never seen the film before (or, indeed, read the comics.) but I watched it this week fo this challnge. Very good film. Brandon Lee was fantastic in the lead role. A real shame, the tragedy that occured during filming. :(

Another 2000AD monthly art comp entry. The theme was a propsed Dredd sequal. I went for one of Dredds more unusual storys, Howler, as drawn by the tremendous Mike McMahon. This is my first bit of painting in about 15 years. Really enjoyed it and quite like the result.

A quick Judge Dredd again, drawn for the weekly themed artblog I frequent on facebook. "Dredd in the style of..." was the theme.

This is a quick, fun little doodle that I've inked and coloured for use as an online avatar, for use in forums. Quite pleased with it! The green guy is a character I've been messing around with and hope to flesh out more substantially in the near future. His name is DeGrub. The Red Dwarf Smegazine!

Here's a few panels from a strip drawn in the early nineties, around about the same time as the Sonic the Hedgehog strip, below, for the Red Dwarf Smegazine. It features "Ace Rimmer", a rather more heroic version of the shows wimpy Arnold Rimmer. It was great fun to draw!
